Some general questions. I have searched through various topics and have not seen these types of questions/responses.  I appreciate any input!!

 1.  I realize that with TR-069 there is typically a TR-069 based ACS deployed to manage devices.  With WebPA there is a Management Cloud with API's.  Is there something required to provide operators with the ability to interface with the API to enable manageability and data collection of devices?

2.  Does any vendor provide the above type functionality today?

3.  How do operators enable manageability today through the WebPA Cloud environment?  Does everyone develop custom Applications to meet there need?

4.  How broadly used is WebPA today?  How many operators are deploying at scale?

5.  Where WebPA is being used, is TR-069 still being used for the same devices?

Thanks for your responses ahead of time!

  1. Hi  Z-Ron Ronco,

Please see responses inline in red

    1. I realize that with TR-069 there is typically a TR-069 based ACS deployed to manage devices. With WebPA there is a Management Cloud with API's. Is there something required to provide operators with the ability to interface with the API to enable manageability and data collection of devices?
Operators need to setup their head-end (ACS or WebPA ). CPE that run RDK-B are capable of receiving TR69 or WebPA commands ( provided required security certs and config are present in devices )

    2. Does any vendor provide the above type functionality today?
    Not sure about this

    3. How do operators enable manageability today through the WebPA Cloud environment? Does everyone develop custom Applications to meet there need?
Operators need to setup their own logc to handle the data they obtain via WebPA

    4. How broadly used is WebPA today? How many operators are deploying at scale?
There are operators who use this across millions of devices

    5. Where WebPA is being used, is TR-069 still being used for the same devices?
There are operators who use both simultaneously

  2. Thanks for your response.  This helps. As a follow-up to question 1, my understanding is that while the Cloud API enables interaction with RDK devices, is there a provide interface to trigger API's or do operators need to devlop a User Interface for there unique needs to simplify interactions (IE Device Provisioning, Configurations, Queries, Data collection/processing, etc directly to devices).

WRT to question 5, are all interactions whether TR-069 or WebPA only thru the RDK Cloud or directly to device (outside the Mgmt cloud?)

    1. Hi Z-Ron Ronco

Currently there is no interface provided to trigger the head-end. The operators need to get a UI for this purpose

By RDK Cloud, if you mean the Xconf server, the interactions need not always come through XConf server
