To keep in pace with the upgrades in the upstream yocto version, RDK plans to use manifest branches for the master-next branch for the version upgrade processnext planned yocto version. For example; , currently RDK uses yocto 1.6 (daisy). The target is to migrate to next targeted yocto version is yocto 2.2 (morty). During the migration phase, the master-next a specific manifest branch will be used created & maintained for morty related development work. Once the development is complete completed on the morty branch and the branch is validated judged to be stable, then master will point be pointed to morty and a new branch will be created for the next targeted yocto version upgrade.

In parallel, RDK will maintain another manifest branch, master-next. master-next will then point to the next version of Yocot (example; pyro) and development for migration will again start in master-next branch. This will be an ongoing process. Please let us know your thoughts, suggestions and questionsalways point to latest upstream yocto master. This branch will be used to tracking the latest updates in Yocto.
