Hello,

the existing System Service (System - ServiceManager) provides APIs for firmware upgrade which entails full system upgrade. Is there a way in RDK to upgrade individual native components such as Thunder Plugins?

If not, are there any plans for such support? (there is is an older thread (Does RDK support the installation/uninstallation of third-party component freely?) about similar topic)

    Update from Robert Seamon, Comcast:

    At this point in time, we are working on downloadable application containers, which will allow applications to be downloaded and run in containers (a sandbox) where they can't interact with sensitive system level processes.  This will not apply to RDKServices.  At this time, RDKServices would need to be updated along with the rest of the RDK.
    If it turns out that there is a high level of demand for this feature, we can look into it.
