Introduction

Wi-Fi Protected Setup(WPS) is a wireless network security standard that tries to make connections between a router and wireless devices faster and easier. WPS works only for wireless networks that use a password that is encrypted with the WPA Personal or WPA2 Personal security protocols while WPS doesn't work with WEP security protocol. Wi-Fi users don't want to know the broadcasting ssid and password.

Enabling WPS

Login to RDKB WebUI and go through following path.

Connection Tab --> Wi-Fi --> ADD Wi-Fi PROTECTED SETUP (WPS) CLIENT

Then, enable WPS from inside RDKB WebUI.


Push Button Method

Enable Wi-Fi Protected Setup(WPS), if it is not enabled.

Select "Push Button" for "Connection Options" and click on "Pair" button

Then press "WPS Push button" in Mobile device

PIN Method

Enable Wi-Fi Protected Setup(WPS), if it is not enabled.

Enable "WPS Pin Method"
Select "PIN Method" for "Connection Options".

Type the pin (ie. generated by Mobile device) in "Wireless Client's PIN" field. Then click "Pair" button.

Connected client shows up mobile device connection with WPS

Limitations

Currently, Push button and PIN methods are supported.
